Halsall Educational Foundation (Clerk to the Trustees)

The Halsall Educational Foundation Trust was set up in 1758 under the terms of the will of Catherine Halsall who left money for the foundation of a girls school in Crosby (now amalgamated with St Luke’s Boys School as the St Luke’s Halsall Church of England Primary School). The residue of the estate was invested and is now able to offer grants on conditions outlined below.

The Trustees of the Halsall Educational Foundation offer grants of such value as the Trustees may determine, for the education of qualified Beneficiaries. That is to say, girls who are, or whose parents are, residents in the Ancient Township of Great Crosby. The Ancient Township of Great Crosby comprises Great Crosby, Blundellsands and Waterloo. The Southerly boundary is Cambridge Road, Waterloo.

The Grant:

  1. Shall be tenable at a University or other such Institution, for the purpose of Higher Education as the Trustees shall approve and shall be spent by the Beneficiary on books or other educational requisites.

or

2. May assist in the provision of facilities of any kind nor normally provided by the Education Authority, for recreation and social and physical training, including the provision of coaching in athletics, sports and games, for Beneficiaries who are receiving Higher Education.

In awarding the Grant, the Trustees shall take into consideration any emoluments which a candidate may derive from other sources.
