Classical Liverpool Lecture

Hugh Hollinghurst gave a lecture on Classical Liverpool at the Medical Institution in aid of the Benevolent Fund. He began with the representation of the aphorisms of Hippocrates in Greek in the entrance hall and the Classical facade of the building, and then went on to illustrate the wealth of Classical features to be found in the city: of language, public sculpture and architecture. He finished with examples in the Institution of furniture in Classical style and Latin inscriptions.
